"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole"

Adoption

Adopting a pet means a life commitment for a precious life. Are you able to provide a stable home for the rest of his/her life? Please THINK before you APPLY. All our dogs have been vaccinated and spayed or neutered (age and health permitting). Adoption fees apply. If you wish to know more about a dog please contact us directly.

Please consider older dogs and the larger dogs, which are the hardest to find adoptive homes for. Maybe you are reluctant to adopt a senior dog because you fear that your time with your new best friend will be short, bringing that painful time of loss closer. But the privilege of loving a senior dog makes every single day special, as you and your companion share love, friendship, and a special relationship that grows stronger with the knowledge that you have given this fine old dog a second chance at life. The love that grows from this knowledge is stronger than the pain of eventual separation. Dogs at the top of Our Dogs page are those who have been with us the longest. Adoption Application

Become a Foster Parent

Fostering dogs is a critical part of the dog rescue and there are never enough foster homes for all of the dogs that need them. Why do dogs need foster homes? Because pounds are overcrowded and they are not mandated to save dogs, but rather to control the canine population. In most cases controlling means euthanizing, sometimes even gassing. The more people who volunteer to foster, the more dogs we can save. Fostering gives dogs a chance to socialize with people, other dogs and animals, to know a loving home, sometimes for the first time ever, and it gives us time to properly assess the perfect family for each dog. Each dog that finds a foster family is one less dog senselessly euthanized. Fostering saves lives.

If you live in or near Brockville, Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal, please consider fostering. These dogs are often on death row and we need to move quickly to pull them to safety. All dogs are given an initial assessment by I Am Alive Dog Rescue before going to a foster family. If you are interested, please take a moment to fill out our application to foster a dog.
